A day in the life

We want to make your day as smooth and enjoyable as possible from start to end.

Read through ‘a day in the life’ to give you an idea of what to expect from a day at the Squires Kitchen International Bakery School.

A day at the Squires Kitchen School starts at 9.30am, although we suggest you arrive around 30 minutes earlier so you can collect any pre-ordered equipment, meet your tutor and classmates, get set up and have a cup of tea!

When you arrive at The Grange, turn right into the reception area to sign in and to be shown to your class. A workspace will be set up ready for you with a badge for you to write your name on.

After a brief introduction, you will get started on your course.

There will be lots of chances to ask your tutor questions should you have them, and regular breaks for refreshments.

Around 12:30pm you will break for lunch for approximately 45 minutes. A light lunch of sandwiches is provided and can be eaten in the classroom or on comfy sofas in the refreshment area. Here you can sit and browse through Squires Kitchen magazines and books to get plenty of ideas and inspiration! Some students choose to bring a packed lunch with them, or you may like to take a short walk by the nearby river in Gostrey Meadows. You can also visit the local shops, cafés and pubs for a bite to eat.

After lunch it’s back to your class for the afternoon where your class continues until 4pm. Once you’ve completed your course you can take the opportunity to walk around and see what your classmates have produced and to chat to the tutor if you have any questions. You can also proudly pose for a photograph with your creation if you would like to, so you can show off to all your friends and family – your picture may even appear on this website to inspire others.
